Abrande Expands into Asia – Appoints Leading IP Lawyer Valerie Suen as Managing Director
Abrande, the AI-powered IP firm protecting tomorrow’s iconic brands, today announces its expansion into Asia with the launch of Abrande (Asia) Limited, incorporated in Hong Kong, covering the Greater China region.
This marks a significant milestone in Abrande’s ambition to build a truly global platform for brand protection, strengthening its ability to support clients across one of the world’s most commercially critical and complex intellectual property regions.
As part of the expansion, Abrande has appointed Valerie Suen, one of the region’s most highly regarded trademark lawyers, as Managing Director of Abrande (Asia) Limited.
A Strategic Step into Greater China
Greater China represents one of the most important regions globally for brand protection and IP – both in terms of opportunity and risk.
With an on-the-ground presence in Hong Kong, Abrande will significantly enhance its ability to support clients with:
Trademark filing, prosecution and portfolio management across Greater China (Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan)
Enforcement, oppositions and dispute resolution
Cross-border IP strategy for companies expanding into or out of Asia
Local expertise combined with Abrande’s AI-powered infrastructure
Abrande already supports a growing portfolio of international clients, including companies such as Tandem Health, The Humble Co, Kind Patches, Sendify and Danads, further reinforcing the firm’s position as a trusted partner for brands scaling across borders.
The expansion enables Abrande to deliver faster, more proactive and more predictable brand protection services in a region where timing, nuance and local expertise are critical.
Partnering with a Leading Voice in IP
Valerie Suen brings over a decade of experience advising global brands and high-growth companies on complex IP matters across China, Hong Kong and the wider Asia region. She is currently the President of The Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners, underscoring her leadership and influence within the IP community in the region.
She joins Abrande from her role as Partner at ELLALAN and has previously held positions at international law firms Hogan Lovells and Clifford Chance.
Valerie is widely recognised as a leading individual in trademark prosecution and strategy, with accolades including:

“A Natural Next Step”
Simon Fouladi, CEO of Abrande AB, commented:
Expanding into Asia is a natural next step for Abrande. Our clients are building global brands from day one, and Greater China is too important to approach without local expertise on the ground.
By combining Valerie’s experience with our AI-driven infrastructure, we can deliver faster and more reliable trademark outcomes in one of the world’s most complex IP markets.
Valerie Suen, Managing Director of Abrande (Asia) Limited, added:
I am genuinely excited to get back to being hands-on with clients – being there at every step as they grow. Joining Abrande feels like a natural next chapter. The team here combines technology and legal expertise in a way that gives clients confidence as they navigate IP challenges across Asia and beyond – and that is a platform I am proud to be part of building.
I have worked alongside the team behind Abrande for many years, and I am thrilled to now be joining them, officially.
